A Woman's Perspective ~ Home Plan Makeover
Kathy found her ideal home plan; she made a few tweaks and now it’s perfect!
Homeowner's Profile: Kathy and Jim both work outside the home and have four sons, ages 16, 13, 10 and 8. The boys are very involved in
sports and the family frequently hosts after game parties. Their main focus was to create a home with a large, open entertaining space with the family
room and kitchen. A big pantry with a planning desk was also a must.

Modifications Kathy made to the Windcrest, #5509:

Enlarged the garage to 24' x 24'.

Absorbed the storage space in the back of the garage to create a larger, laundry/activity room.

Enlarged the rear entry to include lockers and a drop zone.

Created one large closet in the front entry (rather than two small closets divided by a bench).

Moved the kitchen where the original family room was and squared off the back, adding an oversized pantry with a prep desk
and an island with a curved snack bar topped with columns (removing the second fireplace).

Moved the family room where the original living room was and squared it off in the back. This allowed Kathy to install hard
surface flooring through the entry traffic pattern into the large breakfast area and kitchen, while carpeting the family
room.

Stretched the entire back of the home upstairs, enlarging the sitting area in the master bedroom and adding a coffee bar and
bookcase.

This shifted the master bath back to provide space to add a linen closet in the hallway.

Moved Bedroom 3 and its closet back, enlarging Bedrooms 3 and 4.

Added a private ¾ bath to Bedroom 2.
