Unclog gas burners by using a toothpick to poke all the burner head holes clean. To make sure residue is burned off, turn the burner on a high flame for 10 to 15 minutes.

Under-Sink Storage Drawers

The cabinet under the kitchen sink is so convenient – and so useless. But you don’t have to move the pipes completely out of the way in order to capitalize on the storage space.
The cabinet under the sink in this kitchen was 24 inches from front to back and a robust 36 inches wide. Rerouting the pipes opened up room for two drawers, each 22 inches from front to back and 12 inches deep.

Janie found her ideal home plan; she made a few tweaks and now it’s perfect!
  1. Created a functional rear foyer by adding lockers, a drop zone and a large walk-in closet that can be accessed from the front or rear entrance.
  2. Opened up the kitchen and breakfast area by removing a family room wall, redesigning the cabinet and counter space, adding a corner pantry, reconfiguring the island and stretching the breakfast area 4 feet to the rear.
  3. Moved a direct vent fireplace to the corner and installed TV components above.
  4. Created a more desirable master suite by adding a wall of windows and a better entrance into his and her closets. Also relocated the toilet behind a pocket door, redesigned the vanity with a curved front and included a luxurious spa shower. more»
